Peter's Episcopal Church and Nursery School in Essex Fells, NJ is looking for a new part time sexton.
This position requires skills in custodial work and facilities management.
The sexton will support the vision and values of both the Church and the Nursery School.
Hours:
There is some flexibility, but presence is required 4 days during the work week beginning at 8am.
Unless a holiday, Mondays are required during the school year.
The average week is about 16-17 hours.
Pay:
$16.
50 to $18 per hour.
Benefits:
One week of paid vacation a year along with some holidays.
Reports to:
The Rector.
Duties and Responsibilities -Cleaning of the Church and Chapel and disposal of trash -Delivery of packages to different departments of the Church and School -Breaking down boxes and taking them to town recycling plant -Light maintenance of buildings and grounds of Church and School (More complex tasks will be performed by contractors) -Facilitating and maintaining relationships with contractors -Facilitating and maintaining relationships with fire and police departments -Help with setting up and cleaning up for special events as needed Qualifications/Skills -Alignment with the values and mission of the Church and Nursery School.
-High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
-Good skills in verbal and written English.
-At least one (1) year of related janitorial or custodial experience strongly preferred.
-The candidate for this position must have adequate reliable transportation.
-Able to work cooperatively as a member of a team and independently.
-Able to interact courteously and respectfully with diverse staff, volunteers, congregation members, visitors, vendors and clients.
-Able to communicate, read, and follow both written and oral instructions in English.
-Able to work with a variable work schedule, depending on the season and events on the Church calendar.
-Must be able to work Saturdays, some Sundays and holidays, as assigned.
-Criminal background screening clearance required.
